Eventful Day

So today I slept a lot, ate some food, played some Madden 2002 and then watched Conan. Carson Daily came on but everytime that show is on I end up turning off the TV halfway through the first interview since Carson sucks horribly at having natural conversation with celeberties. Now I'm on-line again and that's about it.

I get to take my car in to the shop tomorrow, and maybe get together with the band, but who knows when and if that will happen.

ONE OF THE ENTRIES IN THIS BLOG THAT ISN'T AUDIO-BASED

So today I worked for another 8 hours or so, got to prepare the store for the visit from the district manager tomorrow (meaning vaccuming for 50 minutes, and dusting every surface in the front of the store). At least there was absolutely no one actually shopping today. I guess everyone's back in school/at work/sleeping and not mall shopping these days.

I also saw "Saved" tonight, and yeah it's good stuff. It definately got lots of stuff you can sympathize with growing up in the "Bible Belt", and haven't we all met the Hilary Faye type person before? Oh, if you haven't seen the movie I bet you are now just so curious about what I meant by that last statement.

Jay gave me a CD by the band Extreme called "Three Sides to Every Story". Most people know the band from the song "More Than Words", but trust me there's a whole lot more to this band than that song gives them credit for. Excellent guitar playing, some prog-like elements and excellent vocal harmonies make up the album, and I love it. It's always good to be turned on to music you didn't know exsisted, especially coming from Jay who knows mostly everything about good music.

I got the CD on Saturday at the Sam Goody "holiday" party (I guess it was still kind of the holiday season?). I didn't get to that thing until about 10:30 since I was at dinner and hanging out with Luke, Catherine, Matt, Christy AND Joe (amazingly we all actually met up for once). It was great eating and jazz music at Mexicali Grill and then we all headed off to Luke's for some Apples to Apples. After the game, we just chilled there for a while and shot the breeze, so to speak. It was great to see everyone there but most everyone's break is ending soon, which seems just too weird. Last year I spent a lot more time with the old high school group when I got home, mainly since I had been out of state anyway for three months. So I guess a reunion just seems less eventful now that I'm in Tennessee basically year-round, but it's still good to get back together with everyone over the break.

So Oyok needs to get back together soon, or else school will start and then we know what happens then. So unfortunately today today didn't work out since I had to put in my time at the Goody, but please call me Ben or Luke if you wish to re-invent Seal or get into other generally crazy musical universes.

2005 Has Begun

Okay, so I said expect audio posts. Well I never got around to doing them, so whatever.

Christmas was great, I guess. It wasn't anything different than the usual, but I still loved getting gifts and doing all the christmas time traditions and such. Also enjoyed by me: getting money. Not only did I get some checks as christmas gifts, I also have been putting in 33 hours or so a week at Sam G's (except this week...more on that later) so I got another check from them in exchange for putting up with some of america's angriest and often dumbest people, Holiday Shoppers.

Not that it was THAT bad this year, but even going in to work on the first day I approached it with a great attitude and thought "this isn't that bad" but on my second day of waking up at 6:45 and the mall opening at 8:00 I got more and more cynical and frustrated by the hour. Thankfully I had some days off before christmas and last week my days were spread out pretty well so it hasn't been all that bad since December 22nd (not to mention the mall returned to normal hours last week).

New Year's eve was...well, interesting. I guess anyone who cares knows how it went down, but hey I had a good time, and there was Waffle House. What could be better?

Working New Year's day...not so cool.

And this week Jay's hours were "slashed" so I'm only in for two days (one of them already has passed) and its awesome. Last christmas I only had 4 days off total and then it was back to Ohio. Even though I had enough money from that one break to last for nearly 6 months, I really do enjoy some time off.

And with this time off it looks like Oyok will finally be back in the studio, or at least doing some playing together. It's been a while since we worked on re-inventing the Seal so it should be interesting to see what happens. No doubt I will have a certain digital camera along for the sessions so you'll see it here first.

Simpsons season 5 is incredible. I have been watching it constantly and I have seriously laughed out loud plenty of times per episode. The "new" staff of writers that came in that season made most of the best episodes in the whole series, so please hope for a quick release of seasons 6-9 as well. The only complaint I have about the set is that Conan O'Brien is pretty quiet on most of his commentary tracks, and was much funnier on the Monorail episode hidden track on season 4, but whatever. That's just almost too nerdy of a complaint to even count (I'd cite the episode numbers but that would be going too far).

Strange, but true: I had a dream last night about Ohio U, but not at all anything important really. In fact, it was something I'd almost completely forgotten about, but there I was, standing in line at Nelson Grab and Go, and it all came flowing back to me, I ordered the "Strips of Fire", and then remembered how horrible the waffle fries always tasted, so I got steak fries. It was like each memory brought out another one, first the place, then the chicken, then the fries. It's just weird because I really honestly don't think about Grab and Go on a daily basis, or ever for that matter. And its strange that I could almost taste the stiff, cold waffle fries just by "thinking" about them (although it was all within a dream so I was actually thinking about everything).

If you've read this far then I commend you...or not, since you really should have lost interest back when I was droning on about Sam Goody, or if not then you should have been scared off by that last really really stupid paragraph about Nelson Grab and Go. But if you enjoyed this really really long post that took me so much time to write, please leave a comment since it has been months since I've recieved even one. If I don't recieve a comment then I will be forced to make another audio post with absolutely no point or entertainment value.
