Ducky Does What Ducky DoesThis is where I write about things.Monday, August 23, 2004Ah, Peaches!
Well people, I didn't make the MTSU quad line. Sorta. Since there were so many people trying out, they set up a "flub" line using some old quads with very weird tuning, and I got put on that. So its not the worst thing in the world, but I still was hoping for a triumphant return to quads.
Other than that, I'm living in my new house now, its great. Moving in was rough, but now everything is set up and we've got 5.1 surround in the living room with most every video game system known to mankind as well as a player for nearly every audio and video recording format in existence. Anyway, there's a lot of time this week to devote to band, so I'm probably done with updates for a bit. Monday, August 16, 2004Olympic Move-In
Can I get all my things together to move into a house in Murfreesboro by Wednesday? We'll see. I cleared out my desk and put lots of stuff together already, but I still have to pack this computer up and do tons of other things before I'm ready to go. Not only that, I have music to learn before band camp...that's right, band camp.
So we won't get cable at the house until Saturday, which sucks. And my parents have expressed sheer disbelief that cable would cost 58 dollars a month with basic TV and internet. Well that's how it is. Welcome to the 1980's mom and dad, cable TV is in most homes. Fast-forward to 2000. Cable modems are becoming more and more popular among those with these things called "computers" who don't want to tie up the "telephone line" when using the "internet". Now go to the year 2004. Dial-up is dying so fast that AOL, NetZero, and EarthLink have all introduced broadband services, all to escape the end of the dial-up era and thus, the end of their company. Anyway, my point is, it seems that my transfer to MTSU has been something of a technological wake-up call to the parents. I guess living in a dorm is truly cheaper than renting a house. The base price is a lot less in a house, but add Utilities, Cable, A Computer (if your school provides computers in every dorm room, like at Ohio), Internet, and a Phone Line and you've got yourself lots of stuff. I'm very grateful that my parents agreed to help me out with the financial side of housing, as I still haven't been making much more money at Sam Goody lately, and I have been too lazy to sell my drumset. Speaking of money, I'm setting up my checking account tomorrow morning, so it's time to turn off the Pommel Horse competition and go to sleep.
